Anna Papini's Herbal Alchemy Class
I was very intrigued at the idea of herbal alchemy and Anna opened the class with the very roots of our existence. As an Anthropology major, she shared her views on the prevalence of herbalism in every step of our evolution into becoming humans. I had never even thought about the fact Cave men would have used plants to heal themselves. It makes sense that we are connected to plants and able to use their energy to heal ourselves.
The she dove into some of her favorite herbs, their history, where they were grown and what ailments they can be used to treat and how to synergist with other herbs to create herbal alchemy.
Herbal Alchemy with Anna Papini
A class on how to bring herbal alchemy to your daily life
We all really enjoyed learning about the different herbs, and Anna passed around different herbs for us to smell and to feel the energy of. This exercise enabled me to be very present and communicate with the herbs and feel which one’s called and spoke to me. Anna talked about meditating with the herbs and getting to know and feel their energy. She also discussed how to respectfully and sustainably wild craft native herbs. She stressed the importance of maintaining the growth and to only take small amounts and none at all if it is looking sparse. Another part of the herbal alchemy is respecting mother earth and respecting the plants as well.
It was amazing to see how everyone in the class was drawn to different herbs. We all felt a special connection to the herb that drew us in, another facet of herbal alchemy, using the herbs that resonate with you and speak to you. Anna chose a set of herbs as a dream awakening, chakra opening tea that she mixed in front of us. She explained how get the correct measurements of the herbs and what herbs to use as a base herbs and others we use to compliment and synergist with the medicine. It is fascinating how many herbs can work together to be more powerful, and it reminded me of the power of humans and the capacity we have to change the world when we meld our talents together. Anna covered the different types of herbal medicine and how to make them, it is really empowering to know that you can make your own medicine kit and that many of the herbs naturally grow all around. I’m not going to give out any more info, you will have to come to the next class and experience it for yourself.
Anna mixes her teas in a wooden bowl. There is power in using natural products to mix our ingredients, it keeps the charge of the medicine. Some people believe using metal can decrease the energy of the herbal medicine. Anna also discussed being in the right mindset when making medicine. She expressed the importance of being conscious of your thoughts and mental state when creating medicine. The herbs are so in tune with our energy, they can absorb that negativity and it can truly affect the potency and the quality. She also discussed making medicine with the full moon and harnessing the energy of the moon to tune the herbs to that frequency.
Anna prepared tea for all of us to take home and try for ourselves. Everyone was delighted to receive the tea and I think we all felt more confident in being able to make some homemade herbal concoctions and have fun while doing it. I really enjoyed this class and look forward to sharing more with you all next time.
I look forward to experiencing more classes in the near future, it is truly a gift to learn about these ancient healing practices.
Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to sharing more with you soon.
